Giving an opinion-Is tuition a waste of time?

Advantages
-more  attention
-extra help
-provides more practice
-revision for examination
Disadvantages
-may be overcrowded
-costly
-waste of time
-inexperienced teachers
-no time for relaxation

There is a trend among Malaysian parents to send their children to tuition classes. They think tuition classes are necessary  for their children. As for me,tuition is a waste of time.
Many parents send their children to tuition classes because they think tuition classes will improve their children's grades. Moreover, many parents are working adults and have no time to take care of their childrenthus send their children to a tuition class.
A tuition class can be overcrowded.Classes are usually crowded and noisier than the school. The tuition fee isalso very expensive. The common tuition fee is fifty ringgit per subject.Imagine if two children in a family want go for tuition for five subjects and their parents have pay five hundred ringgit.
In addition, tuition it is a waste of time because the teachers are inexperienced and they do not  go for any courses and do not know about the new format.Tuition classes also a stress to students.A student will not have time for relaxation.
In conclusion, tuition has its own advantages and disadvantages. Thus, one needs to consider all the factors carefully before deciding either he or she wants go for a tuition class or not.

A Report on the Visit to the Mesra Old Folk's Home

Last Sunday, our schools English Club organised a visit to the Mesra Old Folk's Home. 40 student members and two advisor teachers took part in the visit. We travelled in a charted bus.
The objectives of the trip were to give an opportunity to the members to help the elders financially and mentally and give awareness to the members to respect the elderly. The aim of this  visit is also to let members to enjoy themselves after a year of hard work.
We arrived at the old folk's home at 9.00 a.m. The owner of the old folk's home welcomed us with open arms. We were given breakfast and later we visited the elderly. They were very kind and friendly.
They narrated their stories and experiences to us.We were so touched by their stories. Some of us cried after hearing their stories. Many of them were sent by their children to the old folk's home and some of them were orphans.
We also played some games with the elders.We played chess,top spinning,football,hide-and-seek and many other games. We were on cloud nine at that moment. Some of the elders said that it had been a long time since they were happy like this. Puan Suriati, theadvisor of our club donated some sundries to the old folk's home at 6.00 p.m.
This visit can be acknowledged as a successful visit because the students made a pledge that they would not send their parents to any old folk's home in the future. We must appreciate the elderly because they are more experienced than us.Their advice may be irritating but what they say is good for us.The best way to show appreciation to the elderly is by listening to their advice.Other ways of showing appreciation is by studying hard and getting flying colours in the examinations.

Question 1

The picture below shows a snatch theft incident which you witnessed while walking to school. Based on the picture given, write about the incident for your school magazine.

When writing about the incident, you should:

         describe what happened
         express what you felt
suggest ways to prevent snatch theft
write between 120 to 150 words.

                                                             A Snatch Theft
Last Friday,I went to school early because I had my co-curricular activities that day.I was in rush because the road was silent and there were no soul at sight. When I arrived at a junction,I saw my neighbour,Ms. Lee waitingfor bus at the bus station.
She was looking for something on her handphoneShe was so engrossed with her phone till she did not  noticea motorcycle was coming towards her. As for me, did not suspect anything amiss. Suddenly, out of nowhere the pillion rider snatched her handbag. The motorcyclist rode the motorcycle as fast as he could. Ms. Lee fell to the road when she tried to get back her handbag. Her knee was injured and bled.
The whole incident happened so fast- I was too stunned to act. I gave chase after them - threw a stone towards them but they managed to get away. On the other hand, Ms. Lee managed to call police.
The police arrived after a while. They managed to catch the thieves. The policemen returned Ms.Lees handbag to her.Ms. Lee thanked me and the policemen. The policemen also praised me for my braveness. They said that snatch theft is increasing every year.I felt disappointed at the snatch thieves' laziness. They are keen to do anything for money.
Snatch thefts must be reduced as soon as possible before it reaches a critical situation.Ladies who wear handbags become the thieves' main target. There are some ways to prevent snatch theft.First, don't bring big handbag while going outside.Put your purse or wallet into your pocket.Next, learn some martial arts to protect yourself.Don't walk in a silent pace.Try to walk in a group.
